The Green Druid and the White Priest During the time of the Great War, deep in the forest there remained an elf that remained true to the path of Goddess and had stayed behind to tend the trees. Most of the elves had believed they had fought back the Void creatures so well that they were all but destroyed. One day, as the elf was tending a special tree, she noticed some dark shadows. The dark shadows seemed to grow so she decided to set up camp next to the special tree. The next day the shadows had surrounded her and she sat by the tree and waited. The creatures of the Void came towards her and offered her a choice. They wanted the tree so she could leave alive if they gave it freely. The elf smiled and shook her head, they could not take the tree as she had sworn an oath to the Goddess that no Void creatures would take a single tree if it were in her power to stop them. The Void creatures were not pleased and slowly they moved forward to engulf her. She pulled out her dagger and stood ready to die for the tree. There were too many of them to hold them back and she died defending the forest. The Void creatures killed her but were unable to take the tree, this tree had to be freely given without loss of blood. They left rampaging through the forest, destroying all they could in their wake. The Goddess saw that this elf had protected the tree that had been planted as a shrine with her life. This was what she wanted to teach her people, she knew this elf had more to teach. The Goddess reached down and took a part of the spirit of the elf and placed it into the body of another, which she now named The Green Druid. The Green Druid is forever reborn and is always in the service of the Goddess. A similar legend exists for the White Priest whom it is said died protecting a sacred shrine in a great city. It is from the lips of the first Green Druid and first White Priest that the Tenets were received. The blessing of the Green Druid and the White Priest is not given lightly but is sought by many. |
