The Grand Renewal of Magic 1105 - The King and Hart

King Elsin and Queen Morel welcomed us and representatives of all factions to our lands. Entertainment was provided of both a light hearted nature, and a more serious, inspiring nature. This happy start was not to remain so untainted.

King Elsin abdicated soon after, opting instead to care more for the direct leadership of our peoples than regency. Whilst saddened by the loss of our King, we remained ever confident and inspired by our Queen. Elsin remained leading us, and ably so.

However, when the time came to take the fight to the Swarm, disaster struck. Having fought our way bravely through the tunnels, and seemingly defeated all foes, we were attacked once more, struck from behind. Our warleader Larn lead us from the caves at speed, following the final order of Elsin for his peoples to make it safely home. However, as the caves collapsed behind us, we came to realise that Elsin, along with several other members of the Algaia, including our most respected advocate of the Goddess Brother Foxton.

Upon reaching our camp, much grief was shown. Songs were sung and desperate pleas made to the goddess to return our leader safely. Though victory had been achieved, it was with great loss.

Then, a miracle. Hart, a member of the Ael, newly arrived with our faction, yet already shown as a strong and determined individual, also thought lost amongst the cave in, arrived at our camp. He supported no less than Elsin himself, bloodied and clearly very distressed by his ordeal. It took some time before he was able to speak, and it seemed he would make a full recovery.

However, as night fell, our camp was visited by a mysterious Elf, clad in fine armour and bearing an aura of confidence and power that few had recently witnessed.

He held a brief yet telling conversation with Elsin before leaving. It was revealed that our leader had been returned, but that our leader was no longer Elsin. Empowered by the Goddess, Hart was now to take the reigns of leadership, whilst Elsin's path lay elsewhere, amongst the people rather than with the faction it seemed.

It took some time for the dust to settle, but the faction was informed as soon as we were clear in our minds what exactly what had happened. Hart addressed the people, swiftly and surely introducing himself. His opening speech was colourful and bold, and we remain excited and deeply interested in our futures with Hart as our leader.
